NLLHOF participated as a lender in the Smithsonian Anacostia Community Museum’s (S.A.C.M.)
Separate and Unequaled: Black baseball in the District of Columbia exhibit, May 5, 2008 - October
5, 2008 at the Historical Society of Washington, D.C. September 15, 2008, S.A.C.M. held the
New Visions and Past Glories special awards luncheon at the National Press Club in the nation’s
capital. Special guests included Connie Brooks daughter of Legendary James “Cool” Papa Bell
and Tim Lacy son of Legendary Sportswriter Sam Lacy both received the awards honoring their
fathers. Keynote Speaker was Jimmie Lee Solomon, Executive Vice President of Baseball Operations,
MLB.
